Meet Our 2024 HBA Luminary

We recently interviewed Mary Fox, Legal General Counsel, US Generics & Commercial Operations, who is this year’s Teva 2024 HBA Luminary. We asked Mary to share some more about herself and how the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) has impacted her career. Read her full interview below:

Can you tell us a bit about your career journey within the healthcare industry and how you became involved with the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association?

I started in the healthcare industry when I was in high school, working in various positions at a local hospital in Massachusetts through high school and college. In law school and for the first 10 years as an attorney, I worked at a large law firm in Philadelphia, representing hospitals, physicians, pharmacists, manufacturers, insurance companies and other Fortune 500 companies, ultimately becoming a shareholder of the firm. I then went to work in-house as a commercial attorney at IMS Health (now IQVIA). I then worked at AmerisourceBergen, one of the three largest pharmaceutical distributors, for nearly 14 years. Since 2016, I have been at Teva, supporting Generics, Market Access, Government Pricing and Anda, Inc. Teva introduced me to the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.

This year, Teva's theme for International Women's Day had a focus on how diverse teams can innovate and outperform. In your experience, how have you seen diversity within the teams you've been a part of contribute to innovation and overall success?

When I first started practicing law, there were not that many female attorneys and little diversity. Now, 36 years later, there is so much more diversity in the legal profession. Working at Teva has provided me the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals, which has clearly increased innovation and creativity because of the different perspectives and points of view.
